Gandhi Jayanthi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanthi Celebration

The birth anniversaries of two great leaders of our nation, Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, were celebrated with reverence and patriotism on 3rd October at St Monica English Medium School Auditorium. The special morning assembly was organized to mark this occasion.

The programme commenced with a prayer, invoking peace and unity. Following this, floral tributes were offered to the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri by the Manager Rev. Fr Melwyn D’Souza, Principal Sr Sharmila, Staff Coordinator Mrs. Archana, teachers, and students.

To honour Gandhiji’s ideals, the students took the Gandhi Jayanthi Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to truth, non-violence, and service to society.

Speeches highlighting the life, values, and contributions of the two leaders were delivered by Vaishnavi Acharya and Shamak from grade 10. A melodious patriotic song by the school choir further added to the patriotic spirit of the celebration.

The Principal Sr. Sharmila, and the Manager, Rev. Fr Melwyn D’Souza, addressed the gathering with their inspiring words, urging everyone to imbibe the principles of simplicity, honesty, and selfless service in daily life.

The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks by Thushara, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the celebration.

In keeping with Gandhiji’s vision of cleanliness, highschool students of four different squads along with School Manager,Principal staff members collectively participated in cleaning the surroundings of the school, spreading the message of hygiene and responsibility towards the environment.

The day was a meaningful tribute to the great leaders and a reminder for all to walk on the path of truth, non-violence, and patriotism.
