The “No to Drugs” campaign, conducted by the Excise Department, was held on 19th January 2026, beginning with a flash mob at Kumbla Town to raise public awareness about the harmful effects of drug use. This was followed by a rally carrying banners and placards with anti-drug messages, which proceeded to St Monica English Medium School, Kumbla. A large number of participants, including school students, college students, and ASHA workers, showed strong community support for the initiative.
The program commenced with a welcome speech by Sri Anwar Sadath (Assistant Excise Commissioner, Vimukthi Manager kasaragod). This was followed by an awareness session on drug prevention for students, conducted by Peethambaran K (Assistant Excise Inspector). The session emphasized the harmful effects of drugs and also highlighted the benefits of leading a drug-free life, such as better health, improved focus, and a positive lifestyle. Additionally, a law awareness class was conducted by Munavar Thabsheer C.B. (Advocate, DLSA, Kasaragod).
The event was presided over by Sri V.P. Abdul Khader (President, Kumbla Panchayath). Our school Manager, Rev. Fr Melwyn dsouza was present on the stage. Mementos were presented to the participated schools as a token of gratitude. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sri Mohammed Abdul Salim O (Circle Inspector).
The campaign successfully encouraged students and the community to adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
